Thomas Edward Meade Sr., 82 of South New Berlin, NY passed away peacefully on Wednesday evening, November 6, 2019, at his home with family by his side.
Thomas was born in Holmesville, NY on April 10, 1937 the son of the late George and Mary (Knapp) Meade.
Tom is survived by his loving wife of 64 years L.Virginia (Cady) Meade,
brother Robert (Lois) Meade of Norwich, NY,
sister Mary Lou Franklin of Norwich, NY,
his 5 children:
Thomas E. (Judy) Meade Jr. of Norwich, NY
Terry (Denys) Meade of West Winfield, NY,
Barbara (Keith) Flood of Norwich, NY,
Donald (Cheryl) Meade of Norwich and
Michael Meade (Leanne Nijdam) of Unadilla, NY.
Tom is also survived by 7 grandchildren, Jennifer Case, Todd J. (Erin) Meade, Ashley Meade (Gary “Buddy”), Amanda Akermann, Shannon Stark, Shelby Meade and Spencer Meade,
8 great grandchildren; Joshua and Wyatt Meade, Justin and Zackery Chesebro, Gabby, Alyssa, Jessie and Levi Case.
Tom was predeceased by his brother Richard Meade
and sisters Jean Meade Burdick and Reg Meade Carpenter.
Tom worked for many years in the Victory Markets ware house in Norwich. He then took over the family farm for 38 years. He had to keep busy so he then went and drove school bus for Gilbertsville-Mt. Upton Central School. Thomas was always famous for his band “Lone Pine Travelers”. He held many barn dances. Played at the halfway house in Norwich and in Pennsylvania. He also enjoyed bowling, pony pulling and his Dallas Cowboys!
He was a great husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather, great grandfather to all of his loved ones.
At Tom’s request there will be no calling hours of funeral service.
