On November 22, Thanksgiving morning, lifelong resident of Holmesville, Richard F. Meade’s work was complete. This faithful man of God joined his wife Deana and son Richard (Dicky) in Heaven. Dick was born on December 3, 1933 in Holmesville the son of George and Mary Meade. He was 84. Dick is survived by his children Dean (Carol) Meade of New Berlin, Beth Meade and her fiance’, Joe Tomanek of Holmesville, Steven Meade and his girlfriend, Terry Clark of Norwich, grandchildren Jessica Hill, Heather Becker, Andrea Hunt, Kayla Hunt, Hunter Meade and 10 great grandchildren. Also surviving are his siblings Bob (Lois) Meade of Norwich, Mary Franklin of Norwich, Tom (Virginia) Meade of Whitestore and his sister-in-law Rita (Louis) Petrocci of Hudson, FL. Besides his wife Deana and son Dicky, Dick was predeceased by his twin sister Regina Carpenter, sister Jean Burdick and brother-in-law Arden Franklin. Dick attended the South New Berlin Central School. Following his graduation, he joined the United States Army where he served in the Korean War. He and his late wife, Deana, owned and operated the Holmesville General Store where many purchased boots, groceries and gas. He was also the Post Master until being transferred to So. New Berlin where he retired. Dick was a member and pillar of the Holmesville Baptist Church. Where work was to be done, you would find Dick whether it be at church, Camp Bayouca or someone’s home. If there was a need, he and his late wife, Deana would be sure it was fulfilled. In his “spare time”, Dick enjoyed his bowling and golf leagues. Sincere thanks to Karen Gallagher, who was a daughter to him, Carmen Mills who was like a sister, Pastor Grant Smith who took him visiting to see old friends and to others who assisted in his care the last 2 years. Dick will be sorely missed by many, especially Trinity and Landon. Dick selflessly gave to his family, his friends and his Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. Please join us on Monday, December 3, at 11:00 am at the Holmesville Baptist Church to honor this man and his God. There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, please consider memorial contributions to the Holmesville Baptist Church, South New Berlin, NY 13843. Arrangements are with the R.J.Fahy Funeral Home.
