Arcadia – Funeral services will be held for Gloria Chandler Johnson, age 87, at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 5, 2019, at Rose-Neath Funeral Home. Rev. Perry Anderson will officiate. The interment will follow at Mt. Mariah Cemetery. Visitation will be held from noon until service time at 2:00 p.m.
Gloria was born April 3, 1932 to Joe and Beatrice Fincher Chandler in Claiborne Parish, Louisiana. She entered into rest on November 3, 2019 in Arcadia, Louisiana. Gloria worked at the S&H Greenstamp store in Shreveport as a manager. She was a faithful member of Mt. Mariah Methodist Church. Gloria was an excellent cook and loved to garden. She was a member and past president of the Mt. Mariah Garden Club. Gloria was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend.
Gloria is preceded in death by her parents Joe and Beatrice Chandler, siblings, Ruby Abercrombie, Joel Chandler, Artis Chandler, Doris Keen, and Dorothy Dance.
She is survived by her loving husband Lorris Ralph Johnson, daughters Jody Groves, and Deborah Conly and husband Kenneth; sisters, Chloe Woodard, Johnnie Lear, and Peggy Hamel and husband Bill; grandchildren, Leslie Harrington and husband David, Christy Frost and husband Kevin, Bridget McHan and husband Patrick, and Stacey Smothermon and husband Billy; by 7 great grandchildren; and by numerous other nieces, nephews, and other loving family and friends.
Pallbearers will be Billy Smothermon, Patrick McHan, Kevin Frost, David Harrington, Devin Harrington, and Terry Rigdon. Honorary pallbearers will be her great grandson Aidan Smothermon.
