Doris Eleanor O’Neal the daughter of Fred and Dora (Schoen) Fett was born November 21, 1937 in rural Reynolds, NE. She departed this life Friday, November 1, 2019 at Park View Nursing Home in Deshler, NE at the age of 81 years.

She was baptized and confirmed at Zion Church in Reynolds, NE.

Doris grew up in Reynolds attending school and graduating from Reynolds High School with the class of 1955.

She married Harold O’Neal at Zion Church in Reynolds. This union was blessed with the birth of four children. The couple made their first home on a farm near Gilead, NE.

Doris worked for Blue Valley Community Action being promoted to director of Thayer and Jefferson Counties. She also worked for Thayer County Health Services Home Health serving many members of the community.

Doris was a bowler, a great cook, enjoyed dishing up ice cream for the grandchildren, cooking favorites for her family was a highlight in her life, feeding the birds especially cardinals, but most of all she loved spending time with her children especially her grandchildren.

Doris was on an exercise program. Ready or not her two companions always gave her the push she needed to get started. Izzy and Motors couldn’t wait for their daily walk, touring the town taking her dogs or maybe the dogs taking her.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Harold, grandson Joshua David O’Neal, brothers-in-law Bob O’Neal, LeRoy O’Neal, and Ron Boyd.

She is survived by three sons; Steven and wife Carol of Merriam, KS, Michael and wife Kristi of Hamburg, IA, and Richard and wife Jami of Deshler, NE, one daughter Linda O’Neal of Arvada, CO, grandchildren; Kimberly O’Neal of Merriam, KS, Sean Osborne and wife Kara of Omaha, NE, Steven O’Neal and wife Misty of Davenport, NE, Stacey Hardy and husband Bryan of Lincoln, NE, Natasha O’Neal and fiance Trenton Dunn of Kearney, NE, Brittaney Hartley and husband Devon of Hebron, NE, Mason O’Neal and Hannah Collins of Deshler, NE, Danica O’Neal of Deshler, NE, and Austin McFarland of San Diego, CA, sisters; Arlene Ortgies and husband Delvin of Yutan, NE, Carol Boyd of Bladen, NE brother Darrell Fett and wife Illa of Gilead, NE, sister-in-law Elaine O’Neal of Hebron, NE, nieces, cousins, nephews and friends.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, November 5, 2019 at the First Community Church in Hebron, NE at 10:30 AM. Visitation Monday, November 4 from 3pm to 7pm with family present from 5:00pm to 6:30pm at Kroll Funeral Home in Hebron. Officiant will be Pastor Steve Speichinger, organist Judy Kassebaum, congregational hymns “In The Garden”, “How Great Thou Art”, and “Amazing Grace”, casket bearers are the grandsons and the honorary bearers the granddaughters, memorials in care of the family. Condolences may be left at www.krollfh.com. Burial will be in Chester City Cemetery. Kroll Funeral Home of Hebron, NE is in charge of arrangements.
