He was a Truck Driver over 30 years; 16 years American Freight Company and the remainder of his career with Wicker Services, Inc. After his retirement he began to really enjoy life by relaxing and taking it easy. He thoroughly enjoyed collegiate and professional sports. He was the best fish fryer and grill master. Spending time with his beloved grandchildren and only great-grandson was very near and dear to him. Whenever the family could coerce him to go to the beach, he deeply enjoyed the times and memories shared.
Those left to cherish his life are: his loving and devoted wife Emily Johnson Kelso; daughters: Camille Kelso, Celeste Owens-Fuller and husband (Waymon), Casey Kelso Halsey and husband Brett and Latarsha Owens; 5 grandchildren: Nikeia Steele, Jasmine Owens, Emilio Owens, Harper Grace Halsey and Alyse Owens-Fuller; great-grandson: Jamison Owens; two sisters: Marcella Smith and Helen Kelso-Tirrell and husband Theodore; sister-in-law Bert Kelso along with many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in the transition by his brother: Clifford Kelso and sister Donna Wells.
Public viewing will be held Thursday, June 25, 2015, from 1 until 9 p.m. at Sharpe Funeral Home Inc.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, June 16, 2015, in Sharpe Memorial Chapel. The family will receive visitors from 12:30 to 1 p.m. prior to the service and at other times at the home. Burial will be in Alamance Memorial Park.
