Mrs. Jane Cheek died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. S. L. Wilkerson of Pinckneyville, on Wednesday, May 17, and was buried in the Chapman Cemetery.
Mrs. Cheek was the eldest daughter of Arthur Dempsey and wife, having been born in Vermont, Aug 2nd, 1829, and came with her parents to Illinois while in her childhood, settling in Three Mile Prairie.
She was married to John W. Cheek March 19, 1849. To this union were born eleven children, five boys and six girls, all having preceded her to the grave, except two sons and two daughters.
