Gladys Mae Thompson, daughter of Joseph G. and Alice (Scott) Brooks, was born Jan. 28, 1920, in Omaha, Neb. Gladys married Merle Hartshorn. She lived in California where she worked as a clerk in the U.S. Post Office. She married Clifford "Shorty" Gesaman and he died in 1971. Then, Gladys married Bill Thompson. She returned to Greenfield in 1995.
Survivors include her daughter Cathy (husband Jim) Pendergrass of Mission, Texas; son-in-law Jack Mowers of California; four grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.
Gladys was preceded in death by her parents; stepfather Paul Bliese; two husbands; two children, Judith Mowers and an infant son; brother Paul Bliese Jr.; and three sisters, Ellen Westphal, Alice Crawford and Maxine Perkins.
