Don was born on the family farm in Rockyford on January 28, 1923. He schooled at Redland, Rockyford and Campion College in Regina where he excelled both academically and athletically. He joined the R.C.A.F. in 1943 and graduated with his pilot's wings in 1944. He was the flying instructor in North Battleford for one year. Don went overseas as a flight lieutenant with the Fleet Air Arm and returned to the farm in 1946. Don's love of the land and interest in farming lasted a lifetime. He contributed to the many communities in which he lived and made many lifelong friends. Throughout his life Don excelled at all endeavors. He was an avid sportsman and enjoyed flying, curling, hunting, golfing and playing pool. Don faced challenges with dedication, commitment and success, and left the world a better place. At Don's request, no funeral washeld.
