He was born on October 20, 1929 in St. Louis, Missouri to Edmund Jacob and Lilly Breen Blum. He was a retired Administrative Assistant of the Department of Defense and services in in the United States Army as a Chief Warrant Officer. He was a member of the Bolivar Lion's Club.
Robert is survived by his Wife; Eva Jewell Blum of the home, one Son; Timothy "Kermit" Blum of Washington, 2 Stepsons; Darus Greathouse of Cherry Hill, New Jersey, Gary Compton of Nixa, Missouri, four Stepdaughters; Loretta Compton, Kathy Young, Joetta Jones and her husband Bill, and Mary Ann Compton all of Springfield, Missouri, one Brother; Edmund E. Blum of St. Louis, Missouri, two Sisters; Mildred Sites and Beverly Jane Sinclair both of St. Louis, Missouri, one Grandson; Jason Blum and his wife Mellissa of St. Louis, Missouri, and one Granddaughter; Crystal Dawn Anthony of Springfield, Missouri, two Great Grandchildren; Kristen and Chase Blum, Numerous Step-Grandchildren and Step-Great Grandchildren.
A Memorial Service will be held from 4-8pm, Saturday, July 21, 2007 at Phelps Grove Park Pavilion in Springfield, Missouri. A Private burial will be at the Missouri Veteran's Cemetery in Springfield, Missouri on Monday, July 23, 2007 under the direction of the Butler Funeral Home in Bolivar, Missouri.
