PITTSFIELD -- Mrs. Rose Serra Novaris, 87, of 22 Pembroke Ave. died yesterday at home.
Born in Pittsfield on Sept. 21, 1911, the daughter of Frank and Albina Marchisio Serra, she was educated in local schools. A lifelong resident of Pittsfield, Mrs. Novaris worked for A.H. Rice silk mill and was elevated to the position of floor supervisor. She retired in January 1974 after 35 years of service.
A communicant of All Souls' Church, Mrs. Novaris enjoyed bowling and crocheting gifts for her family and friends.
She and her husband, Louis Novaris, celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary this past fall. They were married Oct. 29, 1928, in Mount Carmel Church.
Besides her husband, Mrs. Novaris leaves a son, Louis Novaris Jr. of Pittsfield; three daughters, Mrs. Rita Zopf and Mrs. Frances Ferguson, both of Pittsfield, and Mrs. Eleanor Smachetti of Dalton; two sisters, Mrs. Virginia Menin of Pittsfield and Mrs. Leah Rizzardi of Upland, Calif.; 11 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- Novaris, Rose, age 87, died at her home Jan. 26. Calling hours at the DEVANNY-CONDRON FUNERAL HOME will be Thursday from 4 to 7. Funeral services will be held Friday morning at 8:15 from the funeral home, followed with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 9 a.m. at All Souls' Church. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. If friends desire, memorial donations may be made to All Souls' Church in care of the funeral home.
