Funeral services honoring her life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 3, 2017 at Schilling Funeral Home with Pastor Steve Massengill officiating. Burial will take place at a later date. A visitation for family and friends will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Wednesday at the funeral home.
Letha was born February 19, 1925 in Big Spring Township in Shelby County Illinois to Grover B. and Nellie Storm. She married Howard F. Snow on November 22, 1950 during a major snowstorm. This gave the union between Howard and Letha some claim to fame when a Snow married a Storm in a major blizzard. Howard preceded Letha in death. Letha and Howard have one daughter, Candice M Snow Winslow (Kevin) who survives.
Letha's work record was wide ranged and varied. Before WWII she worked as a clerk in the Main Post Office in Chicago, and during WWII she worked at Houdaille-Hershey in Decatur, IL which was a secret Manhattan Project facility plating parts for the atomic bomb. Later in her career she worked at Mattoon Garment Company and retired from there after 20 years.
Letha was a member of the former First General Baptist Church in Mattoon, where she enjoyed teaching Sunday School, and working with the youth groups over the years. She was fervent in her faith and was found to write letters to the editor of the local newspaper about topics she was concerned about.
She enjoyed travelling to South Dakota, Colorado and Wyoming, painting, and gardening. She loved spring flowers and raising roses. She and her husband Howard, made over 20 trips to Colorado and Wyoming during their life together.
