Mrs. Gladys Sprowl, wife of Wm. Sprowl and daughter of H. S. and Sarah E. Batson, was born Aug. 27, 1897, at Mt. Zion, Wells County, Ind., and departed this life at her home in Oblong, Ill., in the early morning of Dec. 26, 1932. She was converted at the age of thirteen in a revival conducted at Mt. Zion by Revs. J. W. Chambers and W.A. Oler and became a member of the United Brethren Church and lived a consistent Christian life. On Aug. 5, 1916, she was united in marriage to Wm. Sprowl. To this union four children were born: Helen, Forrest, Wayne, and. Esther. About eleven years ago the family moved to Illinois where Mr.and Mrs. Sprowl transferred their membership to the Methodist Episcopal Church. Besides the husband and four children, and the father and mother above mentioned, she leaves to mourn her departure, two
sisters Mrs. Ettie Alexander of Oblong, Ill., and Miss Agnes Batson of Ft. Wayne, and other relatives and friends. Funeral services were conducted at the Mt. Zion United Brethren Church Thursday morning, Dec. 29, Rev. C. H. Slusher in charge, assisted by Bishop A. M. Johnson.
