W. L. Jolley, South Fulton, Dies At 72


SOUTH FULTON, Tenn., April 4 -- William L. (Billy) Jolley, 82, died early today at his home, South Fulton Rt. 2.


He was a veteran of World War I and a member of Marshall Alexander Post 72 of the American Legion.


He served 12 years as magistrate of Obion County.


Mr. Jolley was a member of the Walnut Grove Methodist Church.


Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Ruth Jolley; two sons, Billy Jolley Jr., and Fred Jolley, both of Fulton; two daughters, Mrs. A. W. Green Jr., South Fulton, and Mrs. David Stahr, Mayfield; a brother, Royce Jolley, South Fulton; and 12 grandchildren.


Funeral services are scheduled for 3 p.m. Wednesday at the Hornbeak Funeral Home with the Rev. William G. Adams and the Rev. W. W. Kitterman officiating.


Burial will be in the Obion County Memorial Gardens. Active pallbearers will be Greg Stahr, Bill Stahr, Steve Green, Ladd Stokes, Cecil Jonakin, and Bobby Jonakin.


Honorary pallbearers will be Paul Ferguson, Elmer Mansfield, Milton Counce, Waymon Hall, O'Neal Jones, Charles Reams,' Harry Reams, Tommy Reams, and Sam Reed.


Friends may call at the funeral home.

William L. (Billy) Jolley, 82, prominent farmer and lifelong resident of Obion County, died suddenly Tuesday, April 4, at his home on Route 2, South Fulton.


Born September 30, 1889 in Obion County, Tennessee, he was the son of the late John Wilson Jolley and Sarah Agnes Pate Jolley. A veteran of World War I, a member of Marshall Alexander Post No. 72, and a member of the Walnut Grove United Methodist Church, he served 12 years as a magistrate of Obion County.


Survivors include his wife, Ruth Jonakin Jolley; two sons, Bill Jolley, Jr., and Fred Jolley, both of Fulton; two daughters, Mrs. A. W. (Sara Jane) Green, Jr., South Fulton and Mrs. David (Virginia Lee), Mayfield, Kentucky; twelve grandchildren, Stephen Jolley Green, Memphis, Bill Stahr, Murray State University, Greg Stahr, University of Kentucky, Tina Jolley and Ruth Anna Stahr, both of Murray State University, Ben, Andy, Mark, Amy and Jeff Stahr, all of Mayfield, Pattie and John Jolley, Fulton, Jane Green , South Fulton, Mrs. Susan Bostleman, Auburndale, Florida and Ladd Stokes, Fulton; a brother, Royce Jolley, South Fulton.


A sister, Mrs. Pearl Jolley Jonakin of Chattanooga, preceded him in death.


Services were held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, April 5, at the Hornbeak Funeral Chapel with the Rev. William G. Adams and the Rev. W. W. Kitterman officiating. Interment was in Obion County Memorial Gardens.

Prominent Obion County Farmer Dies Suddenly Today


William L. (Billy) Jolley, 82, prominent farmer and lifelong resident of Obion County, died suddenly early today at his home, South Fulton, Route 2.


Born September 30, 1889 at the homeplace in Obion County, Tenn., he was the son of the late John Wilson Jolley and Sarah Agnes Pate Jolley.

He was a veteran of World War I, member of Marshall Alexander Post No. 72 and served 12 years as magistrate of Obion County. He was a member of Walnut Grove United Methodist Church.


Survivors include his wife, Ruth Jonakin Jolley; two sons, Bill Jolley, Jr., and Fred Jolley, Fulton; two daughters, Mrs. A. W. (Sara Jane) Green, Jr., of South Fulton and Mrs. David (Virginia Lee) Stahr of Mayfield.


Twelve grandchildren also survive: Stephen Jolley Green, Memphis, Bill Stahr, Murray State University, Greg Stahr, University of Kentucky, Tina Jolley and Ruth Anna Stahr, both of Murray State University, Ben, Andy, Mark, Amy and Jeff Stahr all of Mayfield, Patti and John Jolley of Fulton, Jane Green, South Fulton, Mrs. Susan Bostleman of Auburndale, Fla., and Ladd Stokes of Fulton.


He also leaves a brother, Royce Jolley, South Fulton. A sister, Mrs. Pearl Jolley Jonakin, of Chattanooga preceded him in death.
