Isaac Fitzgerrel was born in Barren county, Kentucky December 11, 1811. He moved to Wayne County, Illinois in 1816 and married Miss Martha Martin in 1831 with whom he lived happily 51 years, she dying in 1882.
He moved to Fairfield in 1848 and engaged in the mercantile business, in which he remained until 18790 when he retired. He moved to his farm in Jasper township in 1881. He professed religion and joined the M.E. church in 1880. Seven children survive him.

In 1860 the following children were living with Isaac and Martha: John M., 22; Mary C, 15; Emma, 12; Martha E, 8; and Margaret, 3. in 1850 children were: Wilmoth, 17; John M., 14; Nancy E, 12; Mary C., 10; Emma, 7; and Susan, 0.
