Esther S. Wampler, 93, passed away on Saturday, October 19, 2019, in Warrenton, VA.
Born on February 16, 1926, in Frostburg, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Serafina (Santoro) Acre.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Joseph Acre and Michael Acre; and brother-in-law, William Burger.
Esther retired from Frostburg State University where she worked in the Housekeeping Department. She was a lifelong member of Divine Mercy Parish St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Catholic Daughters of America, K. of C. Auxiliary, Farrady Post 24 American Legion Ladies Auxiliary and Women of the Moose, Frostburg.
Surviving are her son, John Francis Wampler, Frostburg; grandchildren, Shawn Wampler and wife Katrina, Virginia and Stephanie Wampler, Frostburg; great grandchildren, Shawn Wampler, Ethan Wampler, Jordyn Wampler, Addison Wampler and Meliya Bonds; sister, Rose Mary Burger; several nieces and nephews; and special friend, Renee Merrbach.
Family and friends will be received at Durst Funeral Home, 57 Frost Ave, Frostburg, MD, on Wednesday, October 23, 2019, from 2-4 and 7-9 pm.
A Funeral Mass will be held at Divine Mercy Parish, St. Michael’s Catholic Church, 44 E. Main Street, Frostburg, on Thursday, October 24, 2019 at 11 am with Father Ed Hendricks serving as celebrant.
Interment will follow in St. Michael’s Cemetery.
The family would like to thank the staff of Blue Ridge Christian Home of Bealeton, Virginia, for their care of Mrs. Wampler.
