Lavina R. Swanson passed away Aug 8, 1999. She was 85. Mrs. Swanson was born July 26, 1914, in Waukon to George and Anna Anderson. She was a lifetime resident of the Waukon-Espanola area and a graduate of Reardan High School. Mrs. Swanson married Stanley Swanson in 1943. She and her husband grew wheat and raised cattle at the farm in Waukon until 1965, then moved to Espanola, where they continued farming until retirement. Mrs. Swanson was a member of St. Anne Catholic Church, St. Anne Altar Society and the Waukon Grange. She was preceded in death by her husband Stanley in 1981 and is survived by her son, Gary Swanson and his wife Sandy of Spokane; granddaughters Shelley Swanson and Shawna Swanson, both of Spokane; and Shannon DePew, of Everett; a great grandson, Zachary Wright, and nieces Gladys Henry of Spokane and Glenda Hudkins of Niceville, FL. Funeral Mass will be held today (Thursday) at St. Anne Catholic Church in Medical Lake, followed by burial at Reardan Cemetery. Cheney Funeral Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
