VETERAN PUBLISHER LAID AWAY TO REST
Farr Obsequies at Whiting Bring Much Sympathy for Relatives (Special to The Times)
Whiting, Ind., January 3 - The funeral of Reuben Farr, who passed away at his home on Central Avenue on Monday evening was held yesterday. Rev. Frank M. Webster, Pastor of the Congregational Church, held very impressive services at the home of the deceased at 1:30 p.m. after which the remains were taken to Oak Wood Cemetery in Chicago, where they will be cremated.

Mr. Farr was born on his father's farm near Fort Ann in Washington County, New York, on December 16, 1832. He was connected with the lumber and building trades in Chicago for several years, after which he returned to New York, and lived a retired life at Malone for twenty years. He came to Whiting following the death of his second wife and purchased the Whiting Call from his son Edwin H. Farr, who remained as editor. Although an octogenarian, Mr. Farr was able to get out even in the worst kind of weather, attending to his regular duties at the Call office. He was full of sunshine, and will be greatly missed by his large circle of friends on whom he always made regular calls. His private correspondence was enormous, he being very fond of writing letters. Poetry too was his hobby. On the occasion of his eightieth birthday which he celebrated on December 16th, he received over one hundred post cards.

I addition to being survived by his son Edwin H. Farr and family of Whiting the deceased leaves two other sons, Willett Farr of Seattle, Washington, George Farr of Atlanta, Georgia and one daughter, Mrs. George A. Murrell of Woodlawn.
