Cause of Death
An overdose of sleeping pills was blamed Monday for the death of Ernest Milton Butts, 37, whose body was found in his bed at 1715 Helen avenue on Whitney bench, Ada County Coroner William McBratney reported.
The coroner said the death was "clearly one of suicide," and announced there would be no inquest.
McBratney said Butts had swallowed an estimated 18 sleeping tablets, or "enough to kill five persons," and apparently died in his sleep some time Sunday night.
Butts, according to his brother, Harvey M. Butts, with whom he had lived, had been despondent for some time. The brother said the deceased man had been separated from his wife approximately three months.
Survivors include the widow, Mrs. Nilace Butts, and a daughter, Charlene Butts, both of Tacoma, Wash.; his brother, Harvey, and his mother, Mrs. May Rhoades, Meridian.
Services are pending.
