James Edward Carr, 83, of Route 5, Pine Bluff, a retired electrician with the Cotton Belt, died January 1, 1992, at his daughter's home here.
Born July 31, 1908, at Ain (Grant County), he was a son of the late William and Lillian Merritt Carr.
He graduated from Malvern High School. He served in the United States Army during World War II, and was in the Engineer Corps.
He went to work at the Cotton Belt in 1945, and retired in 1974.
He was a member of Green Meadows Baptist Church, where he was a deacon and a Sunday school teacher. He was a Mason, A Gideon and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.
Survivors include two sons, Romie Carr of Belton, Missouri and William Carr of Springfield, Missouri; a daughter, Margie Woodring of Camden; a sister, Wilma White of Sheridan; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 10 a. m. Saturday at the Green Meadows Baptist Church with the Rev. Garland Brackett officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery by Ralph Robinson & Son Mortuary.
Pallbearers will be Ray Jacks, Jim Tomboli, Sammy Wyatt, Vernon Corley, Owen Williams, Travis Meadows, Bill Cheatham and Clayton Thurmon.
Memorial contributions may be made to Green Meadows Baptist Church of the Gideon Society.
Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p. m. today at the funeral home.
