Rosanna, the oldest daughter of James Dougherty and Hannah McDevitt, was baptized on 13 April 1840 at St. Cornelius Mission in Caledon, York, Upper Canada. Rosanna was about six weeks old at the time of her baptism making her birth March /April 1840. Her baptismal sponsors were John McGoughlin [McLaughlin] and Mary McDevitt. By 1850, Rosanna's father had sold his farm in Caledon and had moved the family to Friendship, Fond du Lac, Wisconsin.

Rosanna (age 32) married William H. Hogan (age about 35) on 27 August 1872 in Fond du Lac County, Wisconsin. (Wisconsin Marriages, 1836-1930) They made their home in Oshkosh, Winnebago, Wisconsin. The couple had two surviving children – Frederick and Jesse.

Rosanna died on 29 June 1894 in Oshkosh. (Wisconsin, Death Records, 1867-1907) As described in her obituary, "The deceased had been ill only a few days with typhoid fever, and until yesterday she was thought to be much improved. She took a turn for the worse, however, yesterday afternoon, and rapidly sank." (Oshkosh Daily Northwestern, 29 June 1894, page 4).

On 2 July 1894, she was buried at Riverside Cemetery in Oshkosh. According to The Weekly Times of Oshkosh: "Funeral services of the late Mrs. William Hogan were held Monday morning at St. Peter's church where requiem high mass was celebrated.…The church was crowded with friends of the deceased and a funeral procession of notable length followed the remains to their last resting place at Riverside, where they were lowered into the grave during the performance of the last services of the Catholic church."
