Gene Ray Brannum, 86, of Sunset Hills, MO., passed away on Saturday, October 5, 2019.

Mr. Brannum was born on July 16, 1933 in Harviell, MO., to the late Arthur Brannum and Ollie Marie Davis Brannum. Gene had previously worked for the Butler County Sherriff Department as well as, a chemical mixer for Brown Shoe Company. His hobbies included, hunting, fishing, the outdoors, farming, ”his cows”, camping, and boating.

Gene was a member of the Masonic Lodge and a U.S. Army Veteran, having served in the Korean Conflict.

He is survived by 3 daughters, Brenda Kay Bennett of Chicago, IL., Cheryl Jean Routh of St. Louis, MO., Rhonda Joyce Brannum of St. Louis, MO.; 1 half sister, Annabelle McElroy of Alton, IL.; 8 grandchildren; and 9 great grandchildren.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by 4 sisters, Neva, Gladys, Alma and Lucille; as well as 3 brothers, Choice, Warren and Buck.

Visitation will begin on Tuesday October 8, 2019 from 6:00 – 8:00p.m. at the Fowler & Sons Funeral Home in Neelyville. The Funeral will be on Thursday, October 9, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel with Pastor Eldon Wheelis officiating. Burial will immediately follow at the Kinsey Cemetery in Harviell, Mo.
