"Franklin Melben Allen, 81, died 6:38 p.m. Saturday (Oct. 17, 1992) at USMC, Logan campus. He was a life resident Fountain County and had lived in Covington since 1949. He had been employed at Olin from 1956 to 1971, when he retired. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and gardening. He spent the winters in Florida for several years and was a member of the First Baptist Church and taught men's class for 10 years.

He was born May 31, 1911 in Wabash Township, the son of Frank Emerson and Clara Richardson Allen. He married Lois Annetta Howard on April 2, 1932. She Survives.

Also surviving: two sons, Franklin (Frances) Allen of R.R. 2 Williamsport sport and John (Betsy) Allen of Mulberry, Ind.; two daughters, Kathryn Carey of Covington and Clara Ann (John) Townsend of Monticello, Ind.; 13 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren; a sister, Mildred (Paul) Summers of R.R. 3 Covington. He was preceded by his parents, a daughter, a son, three brothers and a sister.

Services: 11 a.m. Tuesday at Shelby Funeral Home in Covington; Officiating: Dr. Glenn Ray Sr.; Burial: Mt. Hope Cemetery; Visitation: 4-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home." – Commercial News, October 19, 1992
