Resident of Loganville, GA. She graduated from Decatur Girls’ High in 1945. She studied at North Georgia College in Dahlonega, GA (1945-1948) and then transferred to Georgia State College for Women in Milledgeville, GA, earning her Bachelors Degree in Home Economics Education (1948-1949). After college she began teaching in Cartersville, GA alongside her best friend Anne. During this time, she met George Thomas Hicks, whom she later married on June 26, 1953. Early on, she decided she did not enjoy teaching home economics and got a job with Dunn and Bradstreet in Atlanta, GA. After their daughter started school, she was offered a job teaching kindergarten at Belvedere United Methodist Church in Decatur, GA. As circumstances changed, she began working at Emory University in Atlanta, GA and then worked at Decatur Federal Bank until her retirement in 1990. She was preceded in death by her parents Cosper Holmes and Exer Johnson Nash; sister Modenia Nash Andrews, and husband, George Thomas Hicks. She is survived by her daughter Kathy Hicks Sengun and granddaughter Kayla Sengun Jeffery (Chris); nieces Beth Crook, Louise Stafford, Ruth Heerwagen, Debra Kinsley and nephew Mike Smith.
