Mary-Ann (Scott) Williams, age 98 of Indianapolis, passed away peacefully on Monday, Oct. 9, 2023 at Prairie Lakes Care Center in Noblesville after a long, blessed life.
She was born April 15, 1925 in Leisure, Indiana, the daughter of John Lovell and Edna A. (Groover) Scott.
Mary Ann graduated from high school in Texas before returning to Indiana.
She married her soulmate, John "Paul" Williams on Oct. 10, 1959 and they shared over 53 years of marriage together before his passing in 2013.
Mary Ann worked as a secretary for the Department of Housing and Urban Development for over 38 years and retired on Christmas in 1980.
Mary Ann was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church in Indianapolis. She was also a devoted member of the Queen Esther Chapter #3 Order of Eastern Star in Indianapolis. Mary Ann enjoyed simple pleasures of life including spending time at her family cabin in Brown County, dining out with her family and friends, and feeding the birds around her home.
She especially enjoyed spending time with her husband and beloved sister, Ruby. Mary Ann, Paul, and Ruby have now been reunited in Heaven.
Mary Ann's family includes special cousins, Rick & Cindy Groover of Elwood, Carl Scott of Elwood, Linda & Bob Fogle of Winamac, Jim & Barbara Emenheiser of Sharpsville, and Max & Carol Harper of Albany, GA; 3 nieces, Rachel (Bill) Jones of Raeford, NC, Ann (Gene) Frohbieter of Houston, TX, and Jane (Bill) Daniel of Austin, TX; and several great-nieces and nephews.
Mary Ann was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John Paul Williams; and sister, Ruby Scott.
A funeral service celebrating Mary Ann's life will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, Oct. 16, 2023 at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood with Pastor Bill Johnston of Grace Community Church officiating. Burial will follow in the Elwood City Cemetery. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 10 am to 11 am prior to the funeral at the funeral home.
