Greta Boyd Baker, 80, of Hendersonville, N.C., formerly of Marion, died Friday, Sept. 20, 2019. Born in Marion, she was raised on a farm. She was a member of the Junior Welfare Club, the Forest Women's Club, the St James Episcopal Church Altar Guild and served on the Henderson County (N.C.) Mental Health Board. She was an accomplished seamstress, cook and businesswoman. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Baker is survived by two children, Edgar David (Shonda) Baker, Jr. of Newnan, GA, and Susan (Steven) Baker Weis of Fuquay-Varina, N.C.; and two grandchildren, Morgan Elizabeth Weis and Alexander Weis; and a sister, Sharon Boyd (Rod) Summers.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Edgar David Boyd, M.D.; parents, Jesse and Nora Boyd; and a brother, Freddie Hodges Boyd.
A celebration of life service will be held in the spring of 2020.
