Dorothy Burke Norris
September 28, 1930 - October 03, 2019
Dorothy Rebecca Burke was born September 28, 1930 in Colquitt, GA, the daughter of Joseph and Pearl Braswell Burke. She graduated from Miller County High School. She married James Enoch Norris, Sr. and made their home in Southwest Georgia. She was a member of First Church of the Nazarene.

Affectionately known as “The Coffee Lady” at the Circle K Truck Stop, Miss Dorothy never met a stranger. Her nature was to nurture so those that got to know her also called her MeMaw. She loved the Lord and her church. She lived out her faith by being the hands and feet of Jesus to anyone she encountered. A spry thing, Miss Dorothy would work in her yard and cook all day if she knew the family was coming over. When she was just looking for a special treat, she would say, “Let’s go out to eat.”

Survivors include her children, Shelia & Ray Johnson, Rita & Marvin Bailey all of Bainbridge, GA, and Jim & Linda Norris of Goshen, KY; her seven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Miss Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, James E. Norris, Sr.; and her granddaughter, Amanda Norris.
