Mr. Rivers was born on April 13, 1933 in Darlove, MS, and was the sixth of eleven children of the late Claude Eugene and Lucy Mae Rivers. He was honorably discharged from the United States Air Force in 1962. At that time, he returned to his native Washington County to settle down with his family, he was a longtime resident of Hollandale.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by the love of his life and wife of 49 years, Elma Jane Myers Rivers and son, Jody Eugene Rivers. Survivors include his children, Diane Keith (Bennie) of Starkville, Waymon Rivers, Jr. (Carla) of Gravette, AR, and Donna Ramey of Tyler, TX; sisters, Ronnie Hyer of Hollandale, Nola Roncali of Shaw, Lillie Stokes of Nashville, TN and Eugenia Odenwald of Ferriday, LA.
