The deceased came to America in the year 1855 and settled at Noblesville, Indiana, and in 1856 he came to Kansas and settled at Neuchatel. Here, on August 15, 1863, he was married to Louise Zurcher.
To this union five children were born—three boys and two girls. Two boys died in infancy and the other son, Charles A. Bonjour, jr., died at the age of 31 years. Two daughters, Mrs. Matilda Besancon, with whom he made his home in this city, and Mrs. Pauline Perrussel, survive him. There are also 12 grandchildren, and one brother who resides in Switzerland.
He united with the Presbyterian church at Neuchatel in the year 1873. Several years ago he gave to that organization the five acres of ground upon which the church building and the cemetery are situated. He was one of the charter members of the Congregational church at Neuchatel when that organization was established a few years ago and always remained a devoted and earnest member.
Short services were held at the home at one o'clock Tuesday afternoon after which the remains were take to the home of the daughter, Mrs. Perrussell, at Neuchatel. Funeral services were held at the Neuchatel church Wednesday afternoon, conducted by Rev. Aaron Breck, and interment was given in the Neuchatel cemetery.
