Gionia Badger Cook, age 100 of Jefferson, NC, died Monday, June 17, 2019 at Wake Forest Baptist Hospital.

Mrs. Cook was born December 25, 1918 in West Virginia to the late Roy and Bessie Hartzog Badger.

In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her husband, Hollie Newton Cook, son, Roy Gordon Cook, brothers, Roy, Robert, James and Bill Badger, sisters, Barbara Ann Badger, Eula Johnson and Edith Conklin.

She was member of Mt. Jefferson Presbyterian Church. Mrs. Cook worked at Badger Funeral Home for many years and continued to work part time until she was 98 years old!

Mrs. Cook is survived by her daughter, Linda Church and husband Bill of Jefferson, daughter-in-law, Pat Cook of Greenwood, SC, grandchildren, Robin, Kyla, Eric, Karen and Kevin, 7 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 12 Noon, Wednesday, June 19, 2019 at Badger Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Lloyd Day. Burial will follow in the Jefferson Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11 – 12 prior to the service. The family requests no food or flowers please. Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
