BUTTS, L. G. of Thorndale. Age 76. Died 1/24/1969 (Friday) in a Taylor hospital following a heart attack. Services held Sunday at Condra Memorial Chapel. Burial in Taylor City Cemetery. Dr. Joseph W. Bailey, his nephew and pastor of the First Baptist Church, Thorndale, officiated. Condra Funeral Home of Taylor in charge of arrangements.

He was the son of the late George W. and Sarah Caroline Harris Butts, born 5/4/1892 at Anderson in Grimes Co., TX. He arrived in Thorndale 1920 where he was associated with the Thorndale Mercantile Co. until 1932. From 1932 until the time of his untimely death he owned and operated Butts Dry Goods in Thorndale. Member and deacon of First Baptist Church. Member of Thorndale Masonic Lodge, 978 AF & AM. Veteran of WW-1. Married Miss Nell Newton on 2/26/1918.

SURVIVORS: Wife, Nell; daughter, Mrs. M.D. Flanagan of Grand Prairie; son, Newton Butts of Thorndale; sister, Miss Lottie Butts of Austin; 2 brothers, Hubbard E. Butts of Killeen and Arnold W. Butts of Rockdale; 5 grandchildren, Carolyn, Donna and Nell Flanagan of Grand Prairie and Lisa and Todd Butts of Thorndale. [[email protected]]
