Amedeo (Al) A. Caffarelli, 87, a golf professional for Sunny Breeze Palms Golf Course, died Sunday at Charlotte Regional Medical Center. The son of the late Lorenzo and Angelina Fabbrizio Caffarelli, Amedeo attended the Old Schenectady High School on Nott Terrace. He worked at the Mohawk Golf Club before serving in the Army. He returned to the Mohawk Club before gaining employment in 1940 at ALCO Products, serving as shop steward, and as a member of the contract negotiation committee. After ALCO closed, Amedeo worked as a golf professional at the Robert VanPatten Golf Course in Clifton Park for many years; later he worked during the summer months at Wicker Hills Golf Course in Hale, MI, and during the winter months at Sunny Breeze Palms in Arcadia, FL, where at the time of his death, he was teaching professional emeritus. Amedeo was a communicant of St. Anthony's Church in Schenectady; a member of the Professional Golf Association (PGA); a life member of GuanHoHa Fish & Game Club in Glenville.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Edith Rosamino Caffarelli, whom he married May 16, 1939. He is survived by two children; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. He is the brother of Edward Caffarella of Schenectady, Yolanda Korszun of Rotterdam, the late Guy Carlone, Josephine Tobarro, Larry Cafferillo and Albert Cafferillo. Fatherinlaw of the late Horst Barber. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
