Ethel Earlene Cummins, 80, died Friday, March 23, 2007 at the Care Center of Clinton after a lengthy illness. Visitation is after 1:00 p.m. today at Lakewood Funeral Home. The funeral service will be today at 2:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with burial to follow in Lakewood Memorial Park.
Mrs. Cummins was born March 30, 1926 in Hickory Flat, Mississippi to Morris Vanburen & Mary Ethel Rhodes. She was a graduate of Hickory Flat High School and Draughn's Business College, Jackson. She and her husband John C. Cummins were married for 57 years and were active members of Alta Woods Baptist Church. Her life truly exemplified her Christian faith. A devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, she will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Survivors include: her sons, Tommy M. Cummins and his wife, Fran of Oveido, Florida; James Michael Cummins and his wife, Wanda of Brandon. Three grandchildren, Elizabeth Cummins of Atlanta, Georgia, Ashley Cummins Jolly and her husband Erik, of Brandon; and Jared Cummins of Madison. A sister, Ruth Garling and her husband, Allen of Brandon; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John C. Cummins, brothers Elton Rhodes, Maynard Rhodes, Curtis Rhodes, Milton Rhodes, Alonzel Rhodes, James Rhodes, Cecil Rhodes and sisters Blondene Strader and Bobbie Canoy.
Pallbears will be Jared Cummins, Erik Jolly, John Holder, Jack Wood, Henry Williams & Ray Pickering.
Memorials may be sent in lieu of flowers to an Alzheimer's Foundation or to your favorite charity.
