He married Elizabeth Hyde on December 25, 1946. He retired a LTC in the US Army after 27 years of service including combat operations during WWII and Korea. At the end of his Army career he and Elizabeth lived in Adkins, TX for 40 years. During this time, they were foster parents for five years and provided a caring home to five children. In his second career Calvin was a general contractor who thoroughly enjoyed building homes and commercial properties.
