She had lived in Alamogordo since 1966 and was an active member of Wesley United Methodist Church where she operated the food pantry and clothing closet for 25 years.
Betty attended Southwest Missouri College and worked for Curtis Wright Aircraft. She later finished her degree in 1972 with the first graduating class at New Mexico State University-Alamogordo.
Survivors include her husband of 62 years, Joseph W. "Joe" McKinley, of the family home; a son, Mark McKinley, of Rio Rancho; and two grandchildren, Shandalyn Rae McKinley, of Bridgeport, TX; and U.S. Marine Corps Lt. Mark W. McKinley Jr., of Camp Leatherneck, Afghanistan.
