Josephine Snider was born in Kansas on August 3, 1899, the youngest child of Matthew Malone and Agnes Boes. She was married to Owen "Joseph" Snider in 1922. They initially made their home in Kansas, before moving to Seattle. Joseph died there in 1942.

Josephine died at Columbus, Ohio, on April 26, 1979. Funeral services were held at St. Agatha Catholic Church in Columbus. She was survived by two daughters, a son and three grandchildren. In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by six sisters and four brothers.
