Sylvia was born in Barbourville, Kentucky to Flemington and Amanda (White) Cobb. Sylvia married the love of her life, DeVern Bateman on March 1, 1943, in Taylor, Michigan. Sylvia, a long-time Manchester resident, was a member of Community Bible Church in Manchester for many years. Sylvia was an original “Rosie the Riveter”, loved music and to dance, teaching her grandchildren to dance as well. She liked to “busy” herself by baking, painting and was an avid gardener. Sylvia loved her family, they loved her feisty, strong-willed personality and will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Her Family… Sylvia will be missed by her sons; Richard (Kathleen) Bateman of Novi, MI and Ron (Diane) Bateman of Redford, MI, six grandchildren; Richard, Shelley, Christopher, Carrie, Patty, Lisa, 11 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband DeVern, a son Kenny and eight siblings.
