Charles L. Boyd, born in 1836, was the first Boyd child of Boyds Tank. It seems that the family arrived at the new homestead during the year 1836. Charles grew to manhood in Chambers County where he worked for the Central of Georgia Railway, farmed and taught school on Buckalew Mountain and at Moorefield. On December 5, 1876 he married Lula Frances Morris of Cusseta and they established a farm home by the railroad just south of Boyds Tank near Tuckersburg.
They had two sons - Allie Cosper Boyd (1880-1965) and Albert Marvin Boyd (1882-1942). Allie Cosper was named for his grandfather James Cosper Morris. Lula died in 1884, leaving the young boys to be cared for by grandmother Morris. After Lula's death Charles Boyd lived for awhile in Opelika in Lee County, but soon joined his sons in the Morris home near Cusseta. There the boys grew to manhood. The father died in 1906 and was buried in the Boyds Tank Cemetery. According to Allie C. Boyd his mother died at Boyds Tank and was buried in the Boyd cemetery. Their graves are unmarked...
