Mrs. Olive Elizabeth Hornberger, 44, of Richfield RD, died suddenly today at 7 a.m. at her home. Her death was due to a heart attack.
Mrs. Hornberger, had not complained of feeling ill. Her husband, Merrill A. Hornberger, employed at the Oimsted Air Force Base, had left for work at 5 a.m. Upon arising at 7 a.m. Mrs. Hornberger had gone to a lavatory on the first floor of her home to brush her teeth when she was stricken with the attack. Dr. William Weber, of Middleburg, the family physician and Coroner of Snyder County was summoned. He listed her death due to a heart attack.
On December 23, 1961, Mrs. Hornberger sustained a fracture of her ankle when she fell while getting out of an automobile. She was a patient at Evangelical Community Hospital, Lewisburg, for ten days, returning to her home on January 3.
Mrs. Hornberger was born March 1, 1917 in Richfield, the daughter of the late Samuel and Grace Shirk Leitzel. She resided in the Richfield area all of her life. She was a faithful and active member of the Richfield EUB Church and Sunday school and served as assistant superintendent of the cradle roll department. She was also an active member of the Parent Teacher Association of the Perry-West Perry Elementary School.
She was married to Merrill A. Hornberger, June 10, 1942. She is survived by her husband; three sons and two daughters, Dale M. Hornberger, a graduate of Middleburg High School; Darlene J. and Terry Eugene Hornberger, currently students at Middleburg High School; Neil A. Hornberger, a student at the Perry-West Perry elementary school; and Sheree Hornberger; four sisters, Mrs. Steril Amey, and Mrs. Russell Ernest, of Richfield; Mrs. Norman Fisher, of McAlisterville RD and Mrs. Edgar Arbogast, Mt. Pleasant Mills; four brothers, Shirk, S.Ernest, and Robert Leitzel, all of Richfield, and H. Nobel Leitzel, of Freeburg.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 2 p.m., in the Evangelical United Brethren Church, Richfield. Rev. Stewart F. Bingman, her pastor, will officiate. Interment will be in Richfield cemetery. Viewing will be held Thursday evening at Garman's funeral home. Mt. Pleasant Mills. The body will also lie in state in the church Friday from 12:30 p.m. until the hour of service.
