Josephine Milan Abbott, 94, of Roanoke, Va.,was called into the arms of our Lord and Savior Jesus
Christ on Monday, February 15, 2016.
Josephine was born on February 27, 1921, in Roanoke, Va., to Karrima and Abraham Milan. She was
blessed with two siblings, Roslyn Milan Simon and George Milan, who predeceased her. Josephine
married Thomas A. Abbott on May 6, 1951, who also predeceased her.
Jo is survived by her son, Michael Abbott and his wife, Carol, and three grandchildren, Tom, Katie
and Kelly Abbott, who called her "Sittie;" her sister-in-law, Dot Milan; very special niece, Marcelle
Melki; and many nieces and nephews.
Jo was an amazing Lebanese chef, preparing wonderful food for family and friends. She was a
devout Maronite Catholic and the oldest member of St. Elias Maronite Catholic Church and one the
early pioneers of the Annual Lebanese Festival.
The Abbott family would like to sincerely thank the staff at Our Lady of the Valley for their
outstanding and loving care of Jo.
Visitation will be held from 3 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, February 21, 2016, at Oakey's South Chapel,
4257 Brambleton Ave., SW, Roanoke, VA 24018.
The Funeral Mass will be held at 11:30 a.m. on
Monday, February 22, 2016, at St. Elias Maronite Catholic Church,
4730 Cove Road, NW
