1 of 12 children of John Peale and Mary McClintock of Franklin County, Pennsylvania. Came to Vicksburg with his brother Elijah Peale in the 1830s. Elijah died in 1874 and is buried at Lafayette Cemetery #1, New Orleans. Alexander died of tetanus.
