Lizzie Kaney was the Daughter of Michael Dennis and Ada Pauline Redd Kaney of Langley, S.C. She was the Second of 12 Children. She was 17 when she went to work in the cotton mill of Graniteville Company on October 3, 1921. She retired on August 1965 from Semonile Mill in Clearwater, S.C. She was engaged to Lawrence Holsenback of Warrenville,S.C. He was killed July 10, 1934 in the line of duty. She never married. He was the love of her life. She spent her time taking care of her mother and brothers and sisters all her life. She was a charter member of Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church and was honored as the Catholic woman of the year in the early 80's.Lizze was also honored for her service at Our Lady of the Valley during the 60th aniversary of the Catholic Center. She served as a member of the Women's Guild and cleaned the church. Although, she never married She was mother,grandmother and a special aunt to all the Kaney family. Lizzie devoted her life to her family and her church. May the souls of the faithful departed through the mercy of God rest in peace.
