Mr. Elmore was born in Bell County to the late Jessie and Mary Elza Elmore. He moved to Abilene from Houston in 1976. He was a retired truck driver, having worked for Gerlach Oil Co. and Mayflower Transfer & Storage. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.
He was predeceased by his parents; seven sisters; two brothers; and his wife, Virginia Getts Elmore in 1990.
Survivors at the time of his death include his wife, Minnie Isabell Elmore of Abilene; two sons, Bruce Charles Elmore and William "Bill" Dean Elmore, both of Ovalo; a stepson, Don Regeon of El Paso; a step-daughter, June Hodgin of Abilene; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
