Winston-Salem- Mrs. Elise Cooke Hepler, 87, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 27, 2019 at her residence. She was born on July 15, 1932 in Forsyth County to Everett Lee and Elizabeth Carter Cooke. Elise was a faithful member of Morris Chapel United Methodist Church in Walkertown, where she loved to sing in the choir as she was able. She enjoyed gardening and working with flowers. Elise loved her family. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers and three sisters. She is survived by her loving husband of 68 years, Fred Hepler; one daughter, Sharon Hepler; one son, Mark Hepler (wife, Jo); two grandchildren, Noah Hepler and Diana Martin; two great grandchildren, Madison Born and Skyler Denny; one future great grandson on the way; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to also acknowledge Elise’s caregiver’s, Liticia, Shannon, Michelle, Sophronia, and Tina.

A funeral service for Elise will be held at 12:00 pm on Friday, August 30, 2019 at Morris Chapel United Methodist Church with Pastor Jeff Coppley officiating. Burial will follow the service at Gardens of Memory in Walkertown. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Trellis Supportive Care at 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103. They would also like to express their gratitude to Trellis for their help during this difficult time. Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel is assisting the family.
