"Mrs. M. R. Lipe died at her home in Coddle Creek township, Iredell county, on the 19th inst., early in the morning and the body was interred the same evening at Prospect church, of which she was a member for a quarter of a century.
Mrs. Lipe was the widow of Joseph S. Lipe, a Confederate soldier who died at Richmond in July, 1862. She is survived by five children and thirty-two grand children, some of whom now live in Concord."
