William Paul Welch, 41, of Winona drowned November 17 while hunting near Vaiden.
He was a native of Carroll County, the son of W. C. Welch and the late Mrs. Estelle Brooks Welch, member of Vaiden Methodist Church, employed as a pipeline welder and was a US Air Force Veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Margaret Grantham Welch, of Winona; his father, W. C. Welch, his stepmother, Mrs. Minnie Lou Butley Welch of Vaiden; two daughters, Miss Daria Jane Choate and Miss Leslie Gay Welch, both of Winona; one step-daughter, Mrs. Debra Ann Swain of Memphis; two sons, John Eric Welch and Matthew Kelly Welch, both of Winona; two step-sons Danny Lee James and Barry Wayne James, both of Memphis; three sisters, Mrs. Mary Sampley of Vaiden, Mrs. Janie Tollison of Starkville and Mrs. Barbara Sullivan of Bruce; seven brothers, Wallace Welch, Billy Welch, Cecil Welch, Robert Welch, Ray Welch, and Jimmy Don Welch all of Vaiden and Wayne Welch of Jackson; also 1 step-grandchild.
Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Larry Goodpaster at Oliver Chapel at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, November 19.
Burial was in New Shiloh Cemetery in Carroll County with Oliver Funeral Home in charge.
Pallbearers were Wallace Welch, Billy Welch, Cecil Welch, Robert Welch, Ray Welch, Wayne Welch and Jimmy Don Welch.
