Otto died January 2, 2019 at his residence.
Otto Oscar Rasch, son of Emanuel and Ida (Fey) Rasch was born June 14, 1929 in Kulm, ND. His family lived in Fredonia, ND, where he began his education. His family moved to Benedict, ND and later to Merricourt, ND where he completed his formal education. Otto began working for Soo Line Railroad in 1944, retiring from the railroad in 1986.
Otto was united in marriage to Anetta Geiszler on October 15, 1950 in St. James Lutheran Church at Gackle, ND. He entered the United States Army in January of 1951 during the Korean War, being stationed in Korea for six months, Japan for six months and United States for six months. He was honorably discharged in October of 1952 and returned home to continue his employment with the railroad. In 1961, he and Anetta moved to Ashley.
He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars, Coldwater Wildlife, American Legion Lake Hoskins Development and Eagles Club.
Grateful for having shared Otto’s life are several nieces and nephews.
Preceding Otto in death were his parents, wife, Anetta (1-19-2017), two brothers and two sisters.
Honorary Casketbearers will be Soo Line Employees.
Casketbearers will be Chuck Nord, Dorion Monson, Tim Steinwand, Eric Geiszler, Travis Geiszler, Joey Geiszler and Terry Jay Scheer.
