Edgar 'Ronald' Alley, husband and father, passed away at the age of 87.

On Saturday, August 10, Edgar "Ronald" Alley, husband and father, passed away at the age of 87. Born on Jan. 12, 1932, in Manning, Oregon, to Robert and Irene Alley, he was known as Ron throughout the area; he graduated from Redmond High School in 1950.

After time in the Army, Ron worked with his father and brother farming, later owning a construction and trucking company in the Culver area. He married his wife, Marlene Frazier, in February of 1952. Together they raised four children.

Respected for his passion and knowledge of antique cars, Ron was highly involved in the community, participating in car clubs, parades and teaching those who were willing to learn about restoration. Ron restored the first car he purchased at age 15, a beloved 1931 Model A pickup. He restored this car the first time in 1965. Not one to slow down, Ron continued to restore cars until the very end.

He is survived by Marlene, his wife of 67 years; four children; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

An old car procession will leave from Bel-Air Colonial Funeral Home, 762 NE 10th St. Madras, at 1 p.m., and proceed to a graveside service at Mount Jefferson Memorial Cemetery in Madras, followed by a memorial at Eagle Bakery in Madras.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Central Oregon Old Car Club, P.O. Box 281, Bend, Oregon, 97709 for the education scholarship fund.
