Orah Grant, son of Daniel and Elizabeth Helms was born in Ohio on June 15, 1866, in 1884, they moved to a farm located near Salamonia, where they have resided ever since. He was the youngest of five children, all sons, only two of whom are now living, Rev. D. F. Helms, Columbus Grove, Ohio and Rev R. Helms, who is in recovery for shattered health. Orah’s death was sudden and unexpected even though his illness had been serious.

On February 14, 1889, Mr. Helms married Miss Belle Wallingford of Ft. Recovery, Ohio. To this union were born four children, two sons and two daughters, their ages range from one to seven years.

The funeral services conducted by Rev. M. C. Pittinger were held in the M. E. Church in Salamonia, Saturday, March 13, 1897. He was laid to rest in the cemetery on a quiet hillside till the resurrection day. (Portland Daily Commercial, Jay County, IN; April 1, 1897) Contributed by Jim Cox.

Additional Information: Ora Grant "Orrie" Helms, the son of Daniel and Elizabeth Helms , married Minnie Belle Wllingsford. They were married on February 14, 1889 in Mercer County, Ohio.

After Orrie's death, his wife would marry Jacob Sanders, the son of William M. Sanders and Servilla Lare, on August 17th, 1905 in Jay County, Indiana.
