"RELIEVED BY DEATH
Mrs. George Crossen received a telegram this forenoon announcing the death of her brother Asa Pool, at Cleveland, Sunday. It will be remembered that this young gentleman was taken from here [Marion, Ohio] to the Huron street hospital to have an operation performed on his neck. An examination of his case by the physicians of the hospital proved that he was afflicted with cancer, and that death alone could relieve his sufferings.

Mr. Pool has resided with his sister, Mrs. Crossen [nee Lillian May Pool, b. 1862] on south West street, since his return from California on July 15th, and has been gradually failing ever since. He was 24 years of age, and much beloved by those who were acquainted with him, and were aware of the patience he displayed during his long and indescribable sufferings. His remains will be taken to Upper Sandusky for burial Tuesday."

NOTE: Rather than at Upper Sandusky, it is more likely that Asa was laid to rest at Good Hope Cemetery where their parents Elza and Mary Jane (Davis) Pool were buried . Hopefully, someone local can confirm. Transcription and editorial notes by S. A. Studebaker
