EDEN, NC ~ Mrs. Mary Alice Hazelwood, 77, of Eden passed away on Saturday, August 4, 2018, at UNC Rockingham Rehabilitation and Nursing Center.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 7, 2018, at Fairview Baptist Church. Interment will follow in the Holland-Richardson Family Cemetery, 231 Holland Road in Eden.
Mrs. Hazelwood was born in Rockingham County on September 30, 1940, a daughter of William Landreth and Beulah Donavant Landreth, both deceased.
She was retired from Spray Cotton Mill and Frontier Spinning.
She was a faithful member of Fairview Baptist Church and participated in many of the church activities.
She was a wife, mother, and grandmother.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Marshall Hazelwood.
She is survived by her children: Linda Richardson and husband Billy of Eden, Marie Peck and husband Raymond of Eden, Virginia Smith of Clayton, William Sims of Burlington, Anthony Holt of Eden, and Maurice Hazelwood and wife Donna of Stoneville; her sister, Elizabeth Bullins of King; her 11 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., on Monday, August 6, 2018, at Boone & Cooke, Inc. Funeral Home and other times at the home of Linda Richardson in Eden.
The family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to the staff of UNC Rockingham Rehab & Nursing Center for their loving care of Mrs. Hazelwood during her stay.
